Emergency declared on United flight from Denver to D.C. after man prays in aisle


STERLING, Va. — The pilot of a United Airlines flight from Denver to Washington, D.C. declared an emergency Thursday night after a passenger prayed in the aisle and became disorderly according to reports.

TV station WUSA reports officials said flight 662 was preparing to land at Dulles Washington International Airport in northern Virginia when the incident happened. The plane landed safely at 7:10 p.m. MT.

The Boeing 757 jet had a military escort into Dulles, after the emergency declaration.

Everyone got off the plane without incident.

Police and paramedics took the passenger off the plane in handcuffs. He was placed in a police cruiser.

Posts on Twitter speculated the man experienced some type of emotional or mental problem.
